The City

Xi'an is one of the most charismatic cities of China. Capital of twelve dynasties, political centre of China during its most splendorous centuries, starting point of the Silk Road, it may be considered done of the most important cities of the Human History. And in fact, whilst the suburban districts of the city are full with historical relics, the city itself, in spite of the consecutive destructions and reconstructions throughout the centuries, it has managed to keep an air dynamic and cosmopolitan, without loosing the rural grounds that lay in its spirit.

Capital of Shaanxi province, Xian is, with its three million inhabitants and other three in the suburbs, the economic, industrial and cultural centre of Northeast region of China. Its universities are amongst the most prestigious of the country. Top notch technologies in China, like aviation or satellites follow-up, are developed in its institutes and factories. Nevertheless, in spite of having experienced, as the rest of cities in China, a wave of big changes in the last few years, Xian has known how to assimilate the progress without loosing its own style, harmonizing, as far as possible, the new constructions with its traditional urban structure.

It is difficult to describe the charm that Xian inspires, but no doubt that its people and its ancient buildings, have something special that has turned it into one of the most visited cities in China.
